Gina - Bravo to you getting your pump removed. I was hopeful we might run into each at MSK sometime - but we were like ships in the night. Maybe in the future in Chicago. A great milestone and an inspiration for all others in the battle - it's a hopeful story of beating it , but actually allowing yourself to keep moving past it.

Best Wishes

Congrats! But I’m with your husband on being bummed you didn’t get a souvenir. I’ve managed to go three for three on picc lines and vas caths removed (gotta work the charm offensive in pre-op). My wife put them all in a display that we have hanging up on the wall. We’re not big on taxidermy but I say they’re heads of the creatures I’ve slain. Congrats again, everything is up!

What a great accomplishment! My pump is still in after 15 years because of so many surgeries. They will remove it if I have another abdominal surgery. Stories of survivorship like ours, creates hope for those given poor odds. It does not guarantee anything, but it shows it does happen. I didn’t realize that the limitations you mentioned with the pump were due to the pump. I just accept it. It saved my life and yours! Kudos to Dr. Kemeny. She is one of those stars in your universe. I am so happy for you!

This is like the best Summer song after a long winter. Though I've still never met you, I feel like it's a victory for everything you've been willing to do to stay here and make a better world. Blessing you for trusting. Bless Per for all he did to support you like cancer families do. And thank you for sharing this beautiful moment in time. Here's to all the joy that comes your way.
